Description
This dataset contains 42 anthropometric measurements, along with age and ethnic group information, for 86 female civilian miners working in hard-rock and coal mining operations in the United States.
The survey was conducted in 1981 as part of an ergonomic research study at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The research was led by Dr. M. M. Ayoub, who provided the original measurement data. The study was intended to support the evaluation of workplace ergonomics and the physical requirements of mining occupations. The original study results were not published at the time the dataset was archived.
The dataset includes measurements of body size, limb dimensions, circumferences, seated dimensions, and functional reach. These measurements may be useful for historical research, occupational ergonomics, equipment design, and studies of female workers in physically demanding industries.
