Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I download a sample scan?
A sample is available through our Sample Scan link. Registered members may request a downloadable sample.
2. How does this differ from CAESAR?
The U.S. scans contain the same underlying data as the U.S. portion of CAESAR, repackaged for easier access. CAESAR is a name owned by SAE International.
3. Are scans registered for PCA or shape analysis?
No. Scans have varying point counts and require registration before PCA or statistical shape modeling. Associated 3D landmarks assist with registration. Methods are described by Allen, Curless, and Popović, and Anguelov et al.
4. Can the data be used commercially?
Yes, for commercial research and product development, subject to WEAR's applicable license terms. Redistribution, sublicensing, and resale are governed by those terms.
